Strength training V.S. Cardio

People for years have been working out and doing excessive cardio. Most people believe that this was the best exercise they could do to burn calories and fat. I am here to say that this is false and that strength training or weight lifting is the absolute best exercise for burning fat.

Want to lose fat but you don't want bulky muscles? want to have a lean toned body and be able to show it off for once. Want to learn how to lose the weight and keep it off? Sounds to me like you are ready to stop running and to start lifting.

Weight lifting burns more fat than cardio

The reason that weight lifting is better for burning fat is that it helps to build muscle. Muscle is a valuable fat burning tool, and the more you have the more fat you burn.

Cardio can lead to loss of muscle

People the over-do cardio aare losing weight, but they are also losing muscle. Muscle loss will result in the body burning fewer amounts of calories from fat as time goes on. What this means is the harder you cardio train the more you will be working against your fat loss goals.

Cardio is still a valuable tool 

Done in moderation cardio is a great aid to your weight loss. Done in conjunction with a good strength training routine and a proper diet you will lose all of your unwanted pounds. A good rule of thumb is strength training 75% to 25% cardio and this should keep your fat burning furnace on high.
